projects
Here we present some of the projects carried out by our shipyard in recent years. They range from simple paint touch-ups to major restoration works, all the result of months of design, planning, and craftsmanship. The goal: to meet our owners’ requests while maintaining the high standard of quality that has always been a hallmark of Alfamarine.
Itama 75' Refit
Among the most recent full refits is that of an Itama 75' from 2012, which underwent extensive restoration, repair, and upgrading works. The main interventions included: complete repainting, interior modifications, replacement of the instrument console, installation of a bow handrail, renewal of interior and exterior upholstery, major maintenance in the engine room, installation of an additional Fischer Panda generator, and more. As usual, the painting was carried out in our pressurized spray booth using Axalta materials, and required several fiberglass repairs prior to applying the polyurethane primer. The yacht was delivered in perfect condition, fully ready for the summer season.
Magnum 40' Repowering
This 1991 Magnum Marine 40' had a serious issue with its SeaTek engines. A complete re-engining was therefore carried out, evaluating all possible pairs of engines with power comparable to the original ones. The choice fell on the same SeaTek engines, which were purchased and reinstalled on board. At the same time, the seawater, fuel, and electrical systems of the engines were also upgraded.
Mochi Craft 44' Repaint
Among the various refit and upgrade works carried out on this Mochi Dolphin 44', the hull (originally coral-colored) was also repainted with a glossy pastel blue finish. The work included the hull sides, transom, gangway, and bathing ladder, all treated with Axalta two-component polyurethane paints.
Mochi Craft 44' Stern Thruster Installation
Among the various refit and upgrade works carried out on this Mochi Dolphin 44', a stern thruster was installed. Our technical department selected and prepared the installation of a Sleipner thruster, integrating its joystick control at the helm alongside the existing bow thruster control. The service electrical system powering it was also upgraded, with the addition of a pair of extra batteries.
Itama 62' Teak Deck Installation #2
Itama 62' Repaint #2
The owner of this Itama 62' undertook a series of upgrade works on the yacht, reflecting the innovations introduced with the new RS version of the Itama 62'. In addition to the installation of the teak deck and the replacement of the instrument dashboard, the hull (originally blue) was completely repainted with a glossy white finish. The process was carried out in our pressurized spray booth, using Axalta materials.
Alfamarine 78' Helm Station Upgrade
The new owner of this Alfamarine 78' wanted a complete refit of the instrument console, replacing the original instrumentation and modifying the fiberglass dashboard shell. The new dashboard structure was therefore designed, milled, and molded in fiberglass, and then upholstered in black leather. Regarding the new instrumentation, two Raymarine Axiom 16 XL displays, radar, VHF, AIS, echo sounder, autopilot, and two new CAT engine management screens were installed.
Magnum 63' Refit #2
After the success achieved with the refit of a Magnum Marine 63' a few years earlier, we carried out an even more extensive restoration on a similar model. This Magnum 63' was in very poor condition, with serious engine problems and numerous failures in the onboard systems. In the cockpit area, the modifications were significant: a complete redesign of the furniture, seating, and external sunpads; the creation of a hydraulically opening aft sunpad providing direct top access to the engines; an opening in the transom between the swim platform and the cockpit; and an opening in the windshield to allow direct access to the bow. In the engine room, two new MTU 1,550 hp engines were installed, and all onboard systems were either replaced or overhauled: from fuel tanks to water tanks, from the hydraulic system to the electrical system. In addition, the following equipment was purchased and installed: generator, air conditioning system, watermaker, gyroscopic stabilizer, tender lift, hydraulic gangway, and stern winches. Finally, the yacht was repainted in our 25-meter pressurized spray booth, with a direct-gloss finish.
DP58' Fiberglass Restoration
A structural restoration was recently carried out on a Dalla Pietà 58' following the identification of a weak point. After a thorough survey of the hull fiberglass condition, a reinforcement was designed in the bow area beneath the owner’s cabin, consisting of a longitudinal and a transversal element.
Itama 62' RS Repaint
A Itama 62 RS, the latest version of this Itama model, was recently repainted at our shipyard. The owner’s wish was to match the external deck surfaces with the same finish already applied to the hull (sides and transom). A custom-made color was therefore created, and the area was repainted inside our pressurized spray booth.
DP58' Engine Room Refurbish
As part of the extraordinary maintenance works on this Dalla Pietà 58', which has been stored at our shipyard for several years, a complete engine room refit was carried out. In particular, the engines were disembarked and sent to an official MAN service center; the seawater and fuel systems for both the engines and the generator were replaced, and the engine room was completely repainted.
MAGNUM 63' REFIT #1
Driven by the desire of a fast and open boat, and following the recent trend of refitting legacy model yachts from the past, the owner has chosen to buy and completely restore this Magnum 63' in our shipyard. Starting from the interiors, we completely removed the previous furniture and dismantled the existing cabins. An interior layout of two cabins and two toilets, dinette, kitchen and separated crew area has been chosen, all with whitened oak finish. Modifications of the cockpit area have been numerous: the external furniture, seats and sundecks design has been completely rearranged so as to maximize the on-board space and create an hydraulically liftable aft sundeck with direct access to the engines from above. Two openings have also been realized: one in the transom to connect the swimming platform with the main cockpit, and one in the forward windscreen to allow the passage to the boat's bow area without using the side walkways. Then, every on-board system of the engine room has been replaced or overhauled: from the fuel tanks to the water tanks, from the hydraulic system to the electrical one, from the Arneson surface drives to the bilge pumps. Finally, the boat has been repainted in our 25m long pressurized spraying booth, with direct gloss finish.
Alfamarine 72' Repaint
This Alfamarine 72' underwent a complete exterior repainting process at our shipyard. Originally finished in metallic silver, the exterior paintwork was significantly damaged. All deck furniture and equipment were first dismantled, and then all external surfaces were taken back to the gelcoat layer. A polyurethane primer, metallic basecoat, and clear topcoat were then applied. Finally, a gunmetal stripe was added along the hull sides.
Alfamarine 72' Stern Thruster Installation
This Alfamarine 72' featured a single electrical bow thruster; however the owner requested a stern thruster with independent battery system. Our technical department studied its installation on the transom coordinating with the thruster's producer. The work has been then entirely carried out in-house, installing the thruster and the additional battery packs and modifying the electrical system and the helm station accordingly.
Alfamarine 78' Repowering
The owner of this 2005 Alfamarine 78' wished to replace the yacht’s original engines, which had accumulated a high number of running hours. The original CAT C32 ACERT engines were therefore disembarked, a new pair of the same engines was ordered, and then installed on board. At the same time, the seawater, fuel, and exhaust systems were also inspected.
BAGLIETTO 20M REFIT
This Baglietto 20M from the ‘70s has been completely restored in our yard. After a series of structural repairs to restore the wooden superstructure, we entirely removed the old planking and rebuilt it with glued laminated mahogany planks. Then, the engine room has been upgraded with two new Scania diesel engines and an Onan generator, together with a completely new hydraulic system up to the cabins. Finally, we prepared the exterior surfaces with special attention to filling the old spikes and repainted the entire boat in our 25 meters long pressurized spraying booth.
Alfamarine 78' Dinette Floor Repainting
The wengé floor of this Alfamarine 78' showed numerous scratches and marks caused by friction and sun exposure. Our refinishing work restored it to its original condition through sanding and the application of two coats of transparent varnish with microbeads, achieving a matte, non-slip finish. All work was carried out without dismantling the interior furniture, but by carefully masking and protecting the entire area instead.
Itama 75' Helm Station Renewal
One of the most popular retrofits on the Itama 75' is the instrument console upgrade. On this particular 2011 model, two Raymarine Axiom 16 XL displays, radar, FLIR thermal camera, echo sounder, Airmar weather station, VHF, AIS, autopilot, and a SEIN San Giorgio display for trim and flap positions and tank levels were installed. This setup makes full use of the console width, allowing the installation of two large separate displays.
Alfamarine 47' Repaint
Repainting of the only sides of this Alfamarine 47' stored in our shipyard. After having adequately prepared the surfaces, restoring them to the only gel-coat layer of the fiberglass structure, a polyurethane layer has been applied, followed by the silver metallic paint and a final layer of transparent glossy coating. From sanding to painting, the entire work has required only a few weeks.
Alalunga 18M Repaint
This Alalunga 18M from the '80s with wooden structure has been completely repainted in our yard. Initially, the external surface preparation of the boat required the restoration of the riveting and screws of the wooden planking. Then, the repainting process has been carried out applying two layers of polyurethane primer and two of glossy finish.
Pershing 70' Paint Touch-Ups
This recently purchased Pershing 70' has undergone several paint touch-ups on the hull sides to restore them to their original shine. Since it features a glossy metallic finish, the main challenge was to achieve the same metallic charge and color, which had inevitably shifted due to sun exposure. The result, however, was flawless, with a perfectly uniform shade along the entire hull side.
PERSHING 54' REPAINT
This Pershing 54' has been repainted by Alfamarine shipyard using our pressurized spraying booth. After dismounting the entire deck equipment and the cockpit furniture, we treated all the surfaces removing the old paint, reapplied a polyurethane primer and finally used a two-component glossy finish of the original color of the boat.
ROSE ISLAND 53' REPOWERING
This Rose Island 53' has undergone a complete repowering work in our yard: we removed the two engines and the generator, replacing them with two CAT C7.1 (450 hp each) and a Fischer Panda 15000i. During the processing we also renewed some systems in the engine room such as the air intake system, the sea water engine cooling system and the entire CAT electrical system, therefore involving a reorganisation of the helm station to accommodate the new engine monitors and electronic throttles.
DP58' Shaft Line Restoration
After reporting some damage on one of the two propeller shafts of this Dalla Pietà 58', in just two weeks of late July our service restored the fiberglass structure holding the left shaft to re-establish the alignment between the engine and the bearing strut, replaced one of the two shafts, mounted two new propellers and disembarked the damaged engine (a 1100 hp MAN) to send it to the mechanical workshop.
Itama 75' Repaint #3
Among the various Itama 75' yachts repainted at our shipyard, this 2011 model features the standard color scheme: blue hull and white deck. After several years of use, the owner agreed to have the external surfaces repainted, using the same finish and materials originally applied by the manufacturer. The sanding, primer application, and direct-gloss painting process was carried out entirely in our 25-meter pressurized spray booth.
Itama 62' S Repaint
As an official service center for the Ferretti Group, covering the Itama and Pershing brands, over the years we have carried out numerous warranty works and refurbishments, including on brand-new yachts ready for delivery. Such was the case with the repainting of this Itama 62'S, prepared for display at the Cannes Yachting Festival. The direct-gloss blue finish was applied to the hull sides and the deck. The process required dismounting and reassembling the rubbing strake and all deck fittings, as well as fully resealing all portholes and hatches, to ensure perfect sealing along the paint edges.
Itama 62' Teak Deck Installation #1
The mounting of the teak deck for this Itama 62' was carried out with the state-of-the-art vacuum bagging method. The wood was prepared and joined out of work and then placed directly on the bow deck, that was previously prepared with glue. The benefits of the vacuum bagging method certainly are rapidity, the perfect distribution of glue on the entire surface but also the advantage of not having to modify the boat itself.
Itama 75' Foldaway Bed Creation
One of the optional features installed by our shipyard on several Itama 75' yachts is a foldaway extra bed in the guest cabin. Custom-made to match the existing furnishings, it can be easily installed on board without any modifications. It features a hinge mechanism, gas spring, and retractable handle.
Itama 75' Owner Cabin Modification
At the request of the owner, we built an additional bed in the owner's cabin of this Itama 75' to be replaced with the already installed chaise-longue. Hence, we recreated a structure with the same design and finish of the interiors, without sacrificing the space in the cabin and the access to the underlying cabinets.
ITAMA 75' REPAINT #2
Completely repainted during winter 2016-2017 at Alfamarine, this Itama 75' was treated with a double layer process of an opaque polyurethane paint and a transparent finish. The choice of the green tint for this yacht makes it unique of its kind, being the only Itama 75' with this colour.
ITAMA 75' TEAK DECK INSTALLLATION
The bow deck of this Itama 75', previously finished with an anti-slip surface, was covered with a teak pavement of about 50 m2 at Alfamarine. After having adequately prepared the surface for the bonding, having chosen and cut the wood, the teak was smoothed out with specialized machinery in order to create a uniform surface.
Itama 62' Repaint #1
Among the various projects commissioned by the Ferretti Group, one was the complete repainting of a pre-owned Itama 62'. Our painting department restored all the yacht’s exteriors, using the same materials previously applied by PPG. The process of sanding, primer application, and direct-gloss paint application resulted in a flawless finish, further enhanced by the use of our 25-meter pressurized spray booth.
Itama 75' Repaint #1
This Itama 75' was completely repainted at our shipyard. The owner selected a custom color scheme: blue with orange stripes. During the sanding process, numerous wear-related damages and imperfections were identified and repaired with fiberglass and epoxy filler before applying the polyurethane primer coat. The direct-gloss finish was achieved using PPG products
ITAMA 75' GANGWAY INSTALLATION
Kept in the Alfamarine shade during the winter, this Itama 75' has undergone numerous modernization works including the installation of a new passerelle. After having modified part of the fiberglass structure of the boat, adjusted the teak deck and built a new exhaust pipe of one of the two engines in order to create space for the new system, a longer passerelle was installed. Then, the painting department refinished it according to the pre-existent coloration.
Otam 45' Repaint
The owner of this Otam 45' chose a dark anthracite grey as the new color for the yacht’s repainting. Our painting team followed the traditional process for achieving glossy metallic finishes: sanding, application of the polyurethane primer, sanding, application of the matte base coat, sanding, and application of the glossy transparent top coat. The result: a flawless metallic finish with excellent durability, ensured by the additional clear coat layer.
Alfamarine 78' Repaint
One of the few Alfamarine 78' with a white finish has been recently repainted at our shipyard. While preserving the originality of the finish, the painting process was as follows: sanding, application of two coats of two-component polyurethane primer, sanding, and application of two coats of direct-gloss polyurethane paint. Both the hull and the superstructure were completed, including all cockpit furniture (which was carefully dismounted to be painted in our smaller pressurized spraying booth).
Alfamarine 60' Helm Station Renewal
The helm station of one of our Alfamarine 60' has been completely upgraded with the most recent Raymarine equipment. In particular, we first removed the old plotter, radar and depth sounder, then we replaced them with three new Gs multifunction displays by Raymarine, we installed the stern thruster and mounted the new Side Power control panel.
BOSTON WHALER OUTRAGE 21' REFIT
This refit is certainly one of the most unique. It involved the complete restoration of a Boston Whaler Outrage 21' from around 1976, equipped with the original 1982 engines: a pair of Mercury 115 hp inline 6-cylinder units. The hull was fully restored in its fiberglass structure and then repainted using AwlGrip paint. The deck was sandblasted and re-stamped with a non-slip texture. At the same time, the engines were disassembled and overhauled in every part and component. The fuel tank, fuel system, and electrical system were also replaced.
ALFAMARINE 55' REFIT
Always winterized at our shipyard, this 1991 Alfamarine 55' has been completely restored and upgraded over the years. Both mechanics and aesthetics have been carefully maintained, keeping the yacht up to date despite its age. The two 1000 hp MTU engines were disembarked for a complete inspection; all exteriors (including the cockpit) were repainted; the entire interior was refurbished with new finishes and fabrics; in addition, several extra navigation systems and devices have been installed.
